When will the Abbotsford Tulip Festival be held this year?
The soft opening of the Abbotsford Tulip Festival will start on April 08th, 2018 and will last about 30 days.
The Abbotsford Tulip festival was born from the love and dedication of the Warmerdam family. Peter Warmerdam came to the Fraser Valley in the 1950’s from the Netherlands. His Dutch ancestry and deep knowledge of farming and horticulture allowed him to create a small acreage filled with daffodils.
20 years later, he bought land in Abbotsford and continued his pursuits of horticulture by growing gladiolus and eventually incorporated peonies and tulips. His love and dedication for flowers was strong and shared by his entire family.
His Granddaughter, Alexis had the idea of creating a Tulip Festival so that this love of flowers could be shared with visitors and locals as they strolled through the vast fields of colour and beauty.
